You are correct. I've heard of new leases on the Mississippi side of the border, but not on the Louisiana side as of yet. And nothing at the level that's going on up in NWLA right now.

I have heard of people in DeSoto become instant millionaires overnight. All I can say is "Wow". Wish I had some land up there right now.

Wanda, was the letter addressed to you specifically? And when you say "about" Chesapeake, was it from a land management company representing Chesapeake?

Without enough info to give you an informed opinion, your name may have come up in an abstract on the property looking for the minerals owners. Just a guess, and for your sake, I hope that to be the case.

Hopefully, the letter provided contact information in there that should lead you to the right person to answer any questions.

Best of luck!

I too am trying to find out about leasing land in the Tuscaloosa Shale area(Beauregard parish). The land man has aggressively been leasing up private land at ridiculously low bonus payment amounts($10.00 per heir not even $10.00 per acre). Anyhow I am asking what I feel is a reasonable bonus amount per acre for my part in a 70 heir tract of land. The land man says take what is offered or you will be left out of everything as a non responsive heir. Does anyone know if there is any truth to what he is saying? If I do not take his offer can they go ahead and drill, pay royalties to the other heirs who signed and I end up with nothing?? Please help.
