Exclamation Gustav news here

MODERATOR: Sorry to horn in on this post, but....this is the only way there is to make an announcement on a thread temporarily being turned into a sticky:

Folks, the Administrator has asked that we only have two sticky notes in each forum so I've dropped the picture thread for now.

With Gustav bearing down on Louisiana, we'll keep this thread open for discussion of weather trends, emergency preparedness, evacuation information, etc. I'm leaving this in the general Louisiana forum so that everyone might be informed on current updates.

Our thoughts are with you on the coast...be safe...

Sam

Please, let's leave this thread for any updates regarding the hurricane. Well wishes for those in affected areas can be placed in this thread:

Thanks,

Sam

It looks like he'll be coming this way through the Gulf, unfortunately.

Stay informed everyone.

Sigh, looks like we're all gonna have to pull out those plastic totes. There's still hope she'll bounce around and miss us, not that I'd wish a storm on anyone else.

From an outsiders view, I find it kind of creepy seing the line going literally right at New Orleans.

Same here. My family is still there and I'm worried.

Oh boy the butterflies and hand shakes have started. People were filling gas cans at the gas station this morning and SIL said she saw the same thing. I started picking stuff up out of the yard today and will probably start packing totes tomorrow. I had to laugh when SIL told me she was going to have a problem fitting the file cabinet and her mother's wheel chair in the back of the car. The image of a pack of modern day gypsies with file cabinets hanging out the back of a million cars in contraflow popped in my head. Somehow funny and yet pitiful at the same time.
