You are all in my thoughts and prayers as Gustav nears the gulf coast. Please stay safe, and keep in touch to let us know how you are doing.

When it is done, America, we all need to be there for these folks if it does not go well.

I don't understand why you have to face this again.

It won't stop. It will never stop. It will be back again several times within our lifetime. That's mother nature. New Orleans has been trashed something like 28 times since its founding.

Build on high ground and solidly.

Best of luck.

That's what were saying in Florida too. Florida is so much more prepared than little Louisiana - my homestate. At least many folks didn't die from this storm like last time.

It's not unfair. It's completely to be expected. It's like living in Minnesota and calling the occasional blizzard unfair.

If you live on the gulf coast, especially with warming ocean temps...you will get hurricanes. Plan accordingly when you buy or construct and save yourself the heartache down the road.

Mathguy - I should choose to ignore your statement, but I won't! I left a heartfelt message to the residents of Louisiana, especially the citizens of New Orleans, because the weather forecasters were predicting another Katrina. The residents of New Orleans have been treated like second class citizens with the failure of the government to rebuild their city and create a secure levy system to prevent such disasters. I call that UNFAIR and a disgrace. A Minnesota blizzard cannot be compared to the tragedy of Katrina!
