I am thinking of taking a job in Youngsville (Lafayette). I currently live in Clearwater Florida. My question is about the home owners insurance. Florida is in bad shape with the insurance problem. My questions is are you required to have flood and wind insurance and if so how reasonable is it?

Okay, this probaly won't help much as I can't tell you dollars and cents. I live literally a stones throw from Youngsville in Broussard. Insurance is on the rise due to hurricanes. It really isn't that bad. The cost of living here is extremely reasonable. Housing in general is going up. Youngsville is a hot area with lots of new construction due to relocation from NO and South-southwest ...It is a great little town. And, Lafayette..five minutes away, is a wonderful place. Youngsville has the number two and three rated public elementary schools in Lafayette parish. It is very safe. It is cute. Housing is the only downfall. The houses are getting more costly and the yards are getting smaller. Come on over! It is a great place to live!
