I'm not from there but it may help if you be a little more specific about what kind of work that you are looking for.

I'm of the school of thought that you don't move before having a job lined up; that said retail and customer service work here is just like everywhere else, high turnover. Therefore you won't have a problem finding that type of work. Making ends meet? that's another story but I'm assuming you have housing taken care of by family or otherwise. Good luck in the search, Haughton is a fine place to live if you can stomach the slightly longer commute to Shreveport.

I'm moving back to Shreveport very soon, as the commute from Haughton is killing me. The miles on my car are bad... not as bad as when I used to commute from Texarkana, but bad nonetheless. Back then I was logging 170-200 miles per day. Now it's just 50-75 miles per day. The commute alone, from Haughton, is about 25 miles to the south side of Shreveport. Keep in mind that there isn't much in the way of dining or shopping in Haughton, so you will have to go to Shreveport or Bossier for that as well.

One place you may consider for customer service is US Support Co. They have fully paid insurance and start at a decent hourly rate. Are you going to be renting or buying??

I don't mean to be facetious with the following, but considering the OP is looking for work after the fact (of relocation) and said work is hourly customer service, which is a historically highly-transitional field with compensation well below median income, do you think that said person has a reasonable expectation to take on the economic liability, never mind the ability to do so in the first place under this economic environment, of becoming a homeloaner? I think not. Without knowing the finances of the OP or the possible family arrangement they may or may not be able to take advantage of here in Shreveport/Bossier, my guess is his/her family is staying with local family or renting at best. The OP doesn't strike me as an equity refugee, coming from Albany GA, who just decided to buy liquid outright in Shreveport/Bossier and downgrade his lifestyle by taking a CVS job for lunch money and daily expenses...just saying....
--break break---
I agree with SBC on the commute times from Haughton, the scary thing is even north bossier is getting ridiculous with commute times and that's less than 10 miles to the core of bossier city. I mean it used to be that traffic would back up to walmart going north during rush hour circa late 2006-early 2007. Now, forget it, all the way to I-20 it's grid lock well into sundown and as early as 2:30pm....North Bossier is getting out of control and there's no end in sight for the overhype and overpricing but I digress...

^Unfortunately our Bossier City leaders are never on top of the game when it comes to infrastructure (Shreveport only does a little bit better). Of course Airline has its 5 lanes almost to Benton; however, strip malls and businesses pack the corridor every step of the way (at least until you get WELL north of Greenacres Place).
I notice a disturbing trend in this country at least in this area. Don't fool with infrastructure until it absolutely falls apart (such as I-20 in Bossier). That seems to be the prevalent thinking nowdays. So bounce, clunk, thud, until well east of Industrial Dr. Barksdale Blvd south of Jimmy Davis is clogged with commuters each morning and evening. Once again, road is rough, turn lanes too small, but I never hear anyone complain, so it must be me. Is it asking too much to want decent highways and streets, or do I just need to lower my personal standards? Maybe.....

So would you say the same thing to me when me and my husband relocate to Shreveport/Bossier and I'm asking where to look for jobs? Even though my husband is in the USAF and HE will already be making the $'s? How do you know that the OP's spouse wasn't the one who got the job first, and in turn, the whole family had to relocate?
