I can only speak on fun things to do in NOLA. I enjoy getting snowballs in the summer, riding the ferry, eating burgers at Ground Patti, walking through the Quarters, visiting the Farmer's market etc. The French Quarter Festival is also during summer I believe. There's Natchez boat rides with brunch/ lunch/ dinner and the zoo is always fun if you have kids. I love riding the Street Car and basically doing cheap stuff. Oh and definitely eating shrimp poboys at O'Henry's.

there is also a springtime (April usually) music festival in downtown Lafayette with bands from around the world. I recommend checking it out since its free to attend and the food kiosks around the event are just awesome.

Also, try hiking in northern Louisiana around Driskill mountain, which is the highest point in Louisiana. Really gorgeous trails up there.
