Question Where to live: Pineville vs Alex?

We just went to look at houses this weekend in Pineville/Alex area. First of all, none of the real estate agents would show rental properties on the weekend. We were told by all of them to wait until Monday!! We had to be back at work in Austin on Monday, so that didn't work. But, we saw two houses that sparked our interest. One was in College Park, in Pineville, on Lakeshore drive. Anyone know anything about the area? What school? Good neighborhood? Anything? The other was on Roanake, in Alex, near Brahme Jr. High. Anything about that?

We also looked at one condo that seemed pretty far out of town. It was in Mary Goff elm district. Any ideas on that area?

Thanks in advance for you help!!

Roanoke Street in Alexandria is located in a neighborhood that floods. During Hurricane Gustav, houses in the area took in several feet of water, but I'm not sure if this was the case for the entire neighborhood.
