The only thing's i've heard are the same old ghost stories that are fed to every out of towner who goes in there and pays to hear them. Go to N.O. if you want the scary crap. It's full of voodoo and building where people have been hung, chopped up and tortured, and things of that nature. try the French Quarter, its full of history, as is the entire city, and find a tour guide, some specialize in the "haunted areas".
I thought it was close to New Orleans. People always say it's near New Orleans on the TV shows. It's actually north of Baton Rouge.

The Myrtles is consistantly ranked as one of the most haunted places in all of the United States. That would be one great hoax.

Default all a hoax

trust me, my best friend's grandmother boarded at the myrtles when she was attending school at Silliman years ago. She lived there, says nothing ever happened, the doors open and shut due to the foundation, and the other stuff, all stories.

If you research the history on the myrtles 80% of it doesn't match the ghost stories

Thumbs up The Myrtles

I and my girlfriend was in NO. when Katrina hit. We had to head out back towards home. We stopped and spent the night at The Myrtles. We were with her Sister and her friend. They are Ghost Hunters. They had cameras and camcorders. We stayed in "the caretakers cottage". We didn't have a really good experence, But there were some spirits there. Something turned our video off during the night. And we caught lots of ORBs.But you can feel the presence of spirits, If you believe. I would love to go back there. We live in Rayville,LA. We were going Ghost hunting in NO. But of course the Hurricane ran us out. And that Would have been fun. Hope you make it to the Myrtles.

LOL! Good one Vampgrrl! We took that haunted tour at the Myrtles and totally enjoyed it. Hubby and I think we saw something in one of the pics we took while there. We also could be too willing to read more into it than the Average Joe. If you get a chance, go; we found it worth the price if only for the entertainment value.

Yes, a girl I graduated with's family owned a house that has been featured in the book "Ghosts Along the Bayou" by Christine Word. The place is known as the Spanish Trail Nursery and now my good friend's parents live there. He said nothing unusual has happened except for a set of light bulbs popping. It's ironic because me and him did an interview for a school projct with the former owner of the house and while we were there, we heard a door in the house close completely, and the AC unit wasn't even on. The place is also a couple of miles away from my parents', too.

Everyone pushes for New Orleans because it's already the tourist capital of Louisiana. There are HUNDREDS of spots in the rest of the state that are more haunted, though they lack the "shock value" history of New Orleans locations.

The Myrtles Plantation is complete and utter bunk. They actually told me to SHUT UP when I disproved their mirror. They don't let you take pictures in the building (except of the mirror) because "the flash of the light will degrade the colors of the furniture and pictures and wood." I informed them that the intensity and duration of indirect sunlight through the curtains was more harm than the 1/2 second flash of a camera bulb. They told me to SHUT UP for that part too. Myrtles is beautiful to walk around in, has a curious history, but... HAS... NO.... GHOST.

When we were kids Paris Rd. used to run through a long gone swamp (thanks to the MRGO). When we'd drive through after dark Mom would warn us that the Loup Garou lived there and if we didn't behave he would "get" us. The worse you behaved the more likely it would be that he would find you. It was said that he didn't eat good children. Not much of a story, but the Loup Garou always reminds me of those rides and how much we enjoyed our parents' "scary stories when we'd drive through that swamp.

"No ghost stories. Alot of the dribble that they show on TV about LA. is a bunch of hooey. Real life is scarier....Not too many months ago a guy in the French Quarter murdered his girlfriend because she was going to kick him out of her apt.He killed her , dismembered her and put her in a pot on the stove and in the fridge. Some days later,he then got loaded on drugs and alcohol and jumped off the roof of a FQ hotel.Incidentally where they lived was adjacent to a voo-doo house of some sort (I dont believe in voo doo, its crockery)"

Voodoo
is a religion, same as Protestantism and Catholicism are religions. (Not to worry, most people are ignorant of this fact.)
