Yes, my house in Mandeville is almost for sale! LOL While some may like Sal & Judys, I personally will dearly miss lasagna at Bosco's. Crawfish at the French Market on Florida and snoballs at the same. Everything at Petunia's on 59. My husband had his "last" po-boy at Petunia's this week before his move, and over the years he's become friends with the owners and their staff. The guy behind the counter didn't want to give him his po-boy, because he'd miss him and he wouldn't see him anymore! This is a great place to be, and you'll enjoy it immensely. I know we have.

My wife and I moved to Mandeville from New Orleans when our two sons were 1 and 3. Now they are 19 and 21. This area is a great place to raise children, although when they get older they think it's boring. Perfect! One went thru public schools and got a great education. He's now in his 4th year of college and doing well. The parents are very involved in the schools here and that helps immensely. My younger son is soon to graduate from a private high school and that's been a good experience for him. Plenty of good restaurants, churches, neighborhoods and schools in the area. Shopping is OK...so says my wife. Madisonville is a hot new area for good living - it was before but now it's exploded with development. Covington and Abita Springs are good places as well but further from the Causeway, if that matters. We like it here and you probably will as well. Being from New Orleans, I always say it's close enough to New Orleans and far enough away from New Orleans - especially when you have teenage sons. Good luck with your decision. Glad you are heading this way.
