I definitely didn't want to knock any region or say mine is the best, I just wanted to point out that there is more to Shreveport than just South Highlands. The city has a lot of charm, but unfortunately the poverty level in Shreveport is extremely high and "bad" neighborhoods make up a very disproportionate amount of the city's landscape and that is what most people see. It's really shameful, to be honest. This is why I am partial to Bossier City over Shreveport, but I am partial to my region over the rest of the state.

As I mentioned, Cajun culture doesn't appeal to me like it does some people, and I think that's why I prefer north Louisiana to south Louisiana. But for the record let me state that I am not partial to the southern United States at all, I am only here because I was born and raised here and haven't found the right opportunity to leave yet.
If I want a fair, civil argument, you're definitely the guy to go to .

Farmerville has everything you're looking for!! A nice lake, friendly folks, and a decent economy. Really good outdoor recreation, small-town feel.. only thing really lacking is the schools but Cedar Creek in Ruston and OCS/River Oaks in Monroe are a decent drive and aren't very expensive. I reside on Lake Darbonne on the weekends and would love to live there full time. Good luck!

Arkansas is OK but why on earth would you say that it is better than Louisiana? People with your negative attitude, especially in North Louisiana, is what really puts the state's growth on downhold...

Hey let's not down Arkansas my home state! The people in Louisiana are mostly nice! I do not have time to get out and meet to many here in my town but they are kind of clickish (spelling??) but I guess I might be to if I grow up somewhere my whole life! The town of Farmerville isn't so bad just the school I am having problems with right now. One thing bad about Farmerville is the traffic though for such a small town it has lots of traffic. They need a bypass.
