Are these areas safe in Shreveport? (Richmond: house, safe area, college)

Can anyone tell me about these areas?
-Road called Janther Place in Shreveport just south of Kings Higway and just east of I-49
-The north end of Richmond Ave
-Just off Barksdale blvd between 70th and Sligo rd in Bossier
Any information of these areas would be great--Thanks

I actually lived on Janther Place for a year in college; the big white house on the corner. It's a great street. You'll have a little bit of urban rifraff (lot of car traffic, foot traffic, some homeless/panhandlers) but no real crime. The street is a lot of older residents who have been in the area for a long time and really take pride in the street.

Webster defines safe as-1: free from harm or risk. I don't think no place is totally safe. But some are safer than others and I guess that's what you mean. LOL

Between Jimmie Davis hwy and Sligo road is a safe area. Well that is what 70th becomes in Bossier.
Richmond north end, I don't know. That is close to the Shirewood Apts. There has been trouble there before although I haven't heard about anything there for a long time. Richmond is close to I-49 and I don't know for sure, but it could be rather noisy being so close to an interstate hwy.

I don't know about those other areas but I live off Line Avenue on the east side of I-49. I feel safe and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else in this town. The few good restaurants in Shreveport are located off Line. Also, some cute boutiques and specialty stores since the mall itself is a joke.


Lately Ive been hearing what I think are gun shots at night. At first my husband tried to tell me it was just fireworks, now he is saying it is back fire from a car. I mean Moderator cut: inappropriate this is a bit much.

Bossier between 70th (Jimmie Davis Hwy in Bossier) and Sligo is a safe area for sure, as posted above.

Richmond Avenue is also relatively safe with nice older homes. I say ''relatively'' because the "less-desirable" areas are very close by once you get towards Southern Avenue and west of I-49. However, I do know some people on Richmond Ave. who have never complained to me about a lack of safety..
