well this is way down here in Lafayette, but end of April there is an annual festival called Festivale Internationale where bands from around the world come to play in downtown Lafayette. Its free to attend and the food is dynamite. It draws a ton of people and just gives off a fantastic atmosphere. The main showcase of course is our cajun music and bands, but youll find bands from places in Africa, South America, Canada, the caribbean/Jamaica, and of course France and other european countries. Its a 3 day festival and an absolute blast.

Mudbug Madness in Shreveport is normally in towards the end of May, and Holiday-in-Dixie is in Shreveport around mid-to-late April.

And you have to go to the Peach Festival in Ruston, but that isn't until August or September.

Also, the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival featuring a bunch of Louisiana bands also takes place on May 1-3, 2009.

Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival - Festival Information
Breaux Bridge is also right outside of Lafayette.
