Sure. An attempt at humor. Perhaps a failed attempt, but an effort none the less.
Aleck... is what folks call Alexandria.
There are many rednecks in that region, hence the reference to Texas & Mississip...
Mamou Dixon line is something I have said for years. It means absolutely nothing. I doubt
seriously there was a slave within miles of Mamou... and no Civil War battles that I know of took place at Freds Lounge.
It just sounds humorous so I use it. Mamou Dixon. Great name for a band, eh?
BTW, Aleck is in North LA.
No debate.

People from out of town are more likely to use "Aleck" than people who live in Alexandria itself.

I've heard people all my life calll Alexandria "Aleck"; nothing new at all. It is a much faster way of talking-even Louisianians get caught up in speed at times

Anything north of I-10 is North Louisiana. I grew up in Grant Parish, so that's what I'm told all the time...LOL!!

I have no doubt that some Cajuns have migrated to Aleck but it will always be North LA no matter what. Sorry. I don't make up the rules but that is a long established reality. Try as hard as she might... Aleck will always be a redneck of a city.
I am not saying that is a bad thing... just how it is. Heck, I know plenty of rednecks. Salt of the earth... most of 'em.
Sheeyt, telluwhut.

Actually it's quite debatable, hence the name "Cenla", meaning "central Louisiana". Alexandria is no more north Louisiana than Austin is a suburb of Dallas.
