Rental housing near Waterford plant (Metairie, Luling: apartments, hotel, house)

We will be taking a job near Taft, LA.

Can anyone tell me where a good place to rent a house near this area is?

Also, my husband will be going there advance for 2 months? Is there a hotel or something with weekly rates he could stay until we find something?

Here's the thing - The Taft area is really kind of in the middle of nowhere. Once you get to lay eyes on it, you'll see what I mean - it's isolated countryside for the most part. The closest town you'd want to live in is Luling - not many apartments but you should be able to find a little house to rent.

The only bridge to cross over the Mississippi anywhere near Taft is in Luling also. You could try looking just on the other side of the river in Destrehan - which has easy access to the suburb or Metairie (New Orlean's biggest bedroom community) for the YMCA and shopping you want. I recommend you stick with Luling or Destrehan because they are both in St. Charles Parish (Lousiana's counties), which has some of the best schools in all of Louisiana.
