Default Louisiana gas price questions...

I was in SW Louisiana last week and my Dad and I noticed something really strange... Diesel was cheaper than regular! Is that normal? I'm originally from CA and now live in NM and Diesel is usually 30-50 cents higher... at least!

Does Louisiana not tax diesel fuel or something?

It wasn't when I moved at the end of February nor any time in recent history that I can recall, it's always been more expensive around the range you stated...strange. Do you remember what gas station chain this was? I'm curious what it is here now lol.

edit: I checked gasbuddy.com for gas and diesel prices in Lafayette and they were practically dead-even. Slightly cheaper than gas where I live by a few cents. I doubt this has to do with any local taxes...could be more supply than demand, the fact that gas is up for the upcoming holiday (I don't pay attention to diesel, not sure if it goes up too), refineries doing something different during production, or a few other things. I bet the truckers are feeling a little better though!

It's not normal, and I see the same thing going on here in BR. I've aldo noticed diesel prices tend to be steadier, while gas prices have shot up 20 cents in the last week.

Darn! Just when I was thinking a big diesel truck might be a good idea!

Pretty much every station I saw in Lake Charles and Sulphur was this way. How strange.

My DH is a truck driver and he was glad it is cheaper right now. I am sure it will go back up though. He said diesel has not been cheaper than gas in forever. Maybe this can help the truckers make a little bit more. These 100 week checks just are not good. LOL

Our company hauls gas and diesel for the Louisiana area and is no more expensive to transport than gaosline and is also not any more expensive to produce.
