Default Oil & Gas Leases Desoto Parish

Our land just came off an old lease and we've been contacted about leasing our land in Desoto Parish. Seems like the lease price they want to pay is less than the lease rates last year (when we were first contacted) and now that gas prices are going up again, what are leases going for now. Thanks.

Check out the Shreveport Times newspaper online. They have current info on leasing activity in the Haynesville Shale.

The Haynesville Shale produces natural gas, not gas that runs your car. The high lease prices that were offered last year was due to the high prices of natural gas at that time. Natural gas is still at a low price, $4.00 mcf +/-, which is not economical for a multi-million dollar well. Twelve months ago it was over $12.00.
