Just wanted to update for anyone that looks at this thread at a later date or whatever.

We are officially once again Louisianans (is that right ? ) Anyways, We made our way to Donaldsonville last week to look at the house (would have been earlier but Vision Cable are complete ripoffs) Anyways, When it comes to Donaldsonville It was a nightmare. The neighborhood where the house was located (near Robinson and Wire Lane(s)) literally resembled a 3rd world country. The area was full of boarded up or totally abandoned houses.

Some were boarded up, Some had no doors, windows, ect, ect, and some were just completley smashed in and opened up like a tornado hit the town and the people just left their stuff. Trailers that look like a giant boulder smashed them in half with all these people worldly possessions spewing from the wreckage. Garbage and broken down cars scattered the lawns. Someone kicked in the door of the house we were supposed to move into. One of my wifes relatives that live in the area said that local hoodlums break into and vandalize the houses that are empty or appear empty.

It was just really, in a word, Horrible.

We are now staying with family "down da bayou" in Lafourche Parish until we get up on our feet and have found several nice places to rent in the Garden District in New Orleans.

Loving Louisiana, BTW.

Yeah, if you are anywhere in Lafourche, you are most undoubtedly down da bayou. Lots of nice and interesting people down there, except for some of the people in Grand Isle. They operate their own little world down there.

Pretty close - "Louisianian" (or "Loozianian" would work, too )

Sorry about Donaldsonville not working out - things like that are why we Baton Rougeans weren't too keen on the place

Lafouche Parish should be fun. While it's rural, most of its residents live along LA1/Bayou Lafourche. So it has a "main street feel" to it. Just be VERY careful not to go even 1 mph over the speed limit if you pass through Golden Meadow (which is in the southern part of the parish on LA1)

Yeah, We're down around the Golden Meadow, Galliano, Cut Off area. I've heard wonderful things about the GMPD .

Louisiana has been pretty good so far, Lots of work availible. Already have interviews setup with the LPSO and Houma PD.

One of the benefits of (in some people's minds) not being a sexy place to live means that even though we don't boom as much, we don't do as badly during downturns

You sound like LOUISIANA'S LEGEND, lol.

Good luck TNRyan! If you get a job at any of the PD's, I can pull out my city-data card to get out of a ticket?
