Default Shreveport/Bossier - Your favored live music venues for this 4th of July weekend.

I grew up there but have only been back a few times. I'm possibly taking some vacation time July 2, 3, 4, 5. I wanted to know your favorite places for live music that weekend. Closer to the riverfront is best because we'll stay at a Casino but nothing is out. Rock, Blues, Jazz are of most interest.

I've heard of Lee's for Blues on Mondays.
I've read of Harley's for Blues on Thursdays.
I've heard of Superior Grill.

Wicked Tickle is a site that shows a calendar of events. I was having a little trouble putting it all together though, so I thought I would ask you guys. A favorite calendar of events might be helpful too.

Thanks in advance.

Looks like no major events scheduled for Bossier City during those days, but I would look into the Funny Bone on the Boardwalk if you like comedy. Shreveport has Clint Black on July 3, but I see country isn't on your list of desired genres. That looks like the only major event going on during those days, so you might be looking at just local performers during those days. But don't count out the CMT Crossroads bar inside the Horeseshoe. It's the flagship location for this bar, and has a "country meets rock" thing going on, like on the CMT Crossroads TV show where they pair such acts as Sugarland (country) with Bon Jovi (rock). The downtown area is full of places to catch live music.

As far as major concert events, last Friday Colbie Caillat was at the Horseshoe in Bossier City, and Harrah's Louisiana Downs had a free concert featuring Seven Mary Three, Marcy Playground, and Sponge. The following list is for you and anyone else who might be wondering what major concert events are currently scheduled for the Shreveport-Bossier area over the next few months:

Carolyn Wonderland
6/24 (Eldorado Resort, Shreveport)

DJ Colleen Shannon
6/27 (Horseshoe Casino, Bossier City)

Rehab & Big B
6/27 (Riverside Warehouse, Shreveport)

Clint Black
7/3 (Sam's Town Casino, Shreveport)

Peachcake
7/7 (Dalzell House, Shreveport)

I Am Ghost
7/7 (516 Soundstage, Shreveport)

Larry the Cable Guy
7/10 (Horseshoe Casino, Bossier City)

Nightmare of You
7/19 (516 Soundstage, Shreveport)

Jim Rose Circus
7/24 (Riverside Warehouse, Shreveport)

Kansas
7/31 (Diamond Jack's Casino, Bossier City)

Journey & Night Ranger
8/4 (CenturyTel Center, Bossier City)

Dwight Yoakam
8/7 (Horseshoe Casino, Bossier City)

Smokey Robinson
9/4 (Sam's Town Casino, Shreveport)

KC & The Sunshine Band
9/5 (Diamond Jack's Casino, Bossier City)

urbanexplorer2009 -

Thank you. Clint Black satisfies a couple of crateria I had on my facebook question. And Really the Crossroads thing at the big houseshoe might be just the thing. I'll a little that I had in my fb that might be helpful but first...Thank you urbanexplorer2009.

Marilyn -

I was having a bit of a challenge with just searches on Google. I wonder if I posted it to my High School network we'd get more returns.

I just joined City-Data and posted the question there.

Wicked Tickle has a calendar:

Wicked Tickle - Entertainment Guide for Shreveport Bossier and the ArkLaTex: Calendar

Thanks, Sheryl. Do you know anything about this place, Harley's for blues on Thursday? I keep hearing people talking about Superior.

And anybody else that has a suggestion a like Rock, Blues, Jazz, Big Band, Bluegrass country etc. Singer/Song writers are at the top of the list no matter what genre.

Hmmm. Don't see a hypelink button.
