No one in Texas will claim nor call it Texas but kno it very well. Arkansas residents wish to move there, they think highly of Shreveport-Bossier in how every time they come there it seem to have something new to offer with every visit.
E. Texas, Arkansas, and W. Mississippi are the 3 places that would be most familiar with the area. Beyond that circle the average picture of Louisiana is Alligators, Airboats, Hurricanes, and Bourbon St.

Grambling supposely leads the state in Nursing besides the fact of being a very famous black college.
I though Delgado had that title. It might be GSU though.

people even stay up here? Do we even care about french culture up here, swamps.....swamps in Shreveport? There are rolling hills in Shreveport, the land structure is so different from anywhere esle in Louisiana.
Why should people in N. Louisiana care about Creoles and Cajuns? Nobody said Shreveport had swamps, We're saying that it's the general perception of LA.

I support the all of Louisiana and love it to death, but please, please. to say that S. Louisiana give Louisiana its identity is so unbelievable.
To most Americans it does. Most of S. Louisiana thinks so too. We know that there is more to LA than swamps and NOLA and that N. Louisiana can hold its own, but that isn't how the state markets itself.

-License plate. -> Swamp sunset and a brown pelican.
-The "My Louisiana" commercials. -> gumbo, 2nd lines, alligators, zydeco, cane fields, and crawfish.
-Sportsman's Paradise -> marine fishing, golf, crabbing, water sports, nutria, etc. (that's what the commercial says). Of course we know that there is Deer, squirrel, rabbit, etc. hunting up north as well.

I ask I guy from St. Louis before, "what chu kno bout ol' Looz'anna?" He say, "yall racist, but the food taste good." Racist huh, I wonder what part of the state he went too, and note, I went during the time around the time Jena Six happen.
That could have been anywhere in LA. IMO the food is better down south.
lol at Looz'anna

When Katrina happened when New Orleans temporarily lost its flare, all of a sudden Louisiana became whole again with the same identity, it wasnt french culture.
Really?
Well the rest of the nation was inundated with media coverage of New Orleans for the next 2 years. A new tourist niche was invented and NOLA adapted to take advantage of it. BR wanted to advantage for themselves as well in the beginning, but within a year they were focused on getting tourst $'s into NO and not the rest of LA.

Trust, theres too much about Louisiana to i.d. Its is not just LSU and Mardi Gras beads
We know this, but the rest of the world doesn't. You should make a thread on the General U.S. forums to get general opinions of Louisiana. Trust me it will be interesting, offensive, but interesting.

They even play the Cowboys on T.V. in of Sundays. Even as far down as Natchitoches they do the same thing, I was disappointed my freshman year at Northwestern State because I couldnt understand that a place like Natchitoches that has alot of S. Louisiana traditions doesnt favor Cowboy games over the Saints. But......thats when it hit me, we're different
We're on two entirely different pages here, apparently. I said nothing about "the S. Louisiana identity up here" and I said nothing about Saints fans in this area, either. I am talking about Louisiana's identity in general, which we get from south Louisiana whether we north Louisianans like it or not. True, north Louisiana does not get its culture from south Louisiana. Instead, our culture is a mix of Texas, Arkansas, and Mississippi. Over my way, it's mostly Texas. But the people I have met in my travels have only identified Louisiana by south Louisiana, and most often, New Orleans. I have on the rare occasion been speaking to someone about Louisiana and had them say "I lived in Shreveport once", or "I have family in Shreveport". But most of the time, if I don't specifically mention Shreveport or any part of north Louisiana, it is automatically assumed I live somewhere near New Orleans.
