NO looked fine to me. I wish I had more time to explore the outlying communites when I was there.

Being a CA girl, the only thing that really caught my eye was the topography. We have a lot of mountains ( and hills, especially in San Fran) and LA looked pretty level/flat.
Hopefully, I will get the chance to visit again soon.

If you get on I-49 from Lafayette heading north you'll begin to see hills. The hills get bigger the further north you go.

The people who complain the most about LA don't live there, nor do they understand the culture or the history. It's a shame because LA us a most unusual state from top to bottom, and quite wonderful from mypoint of view. They funny thing is, for every 10 things bad any one can say about the state, there are 20 things good that can also be said.

Diversity in economic class is probably a good thing. I have grown to love my ivory tower and princess attitude but it sounds like I need a major readjustment to "fit-in" to this community. No Ritz high-tea in the area but probably lots of that Abita beer will suffice.

I just found a Steinmart listed and that will do for shopping and if I get the urge I will go to New Orleans to shop. My husband is probably quiet happy to get me out of the big city mentality and will save him tons of money which we all must do in this economic mess Obama has thrown us all into. I just hope this area is highly republican or I may have a melt down.

I will buy chickens from the local farmers, go to meat markets, and hit your farmers markets for fresh produce.

If you see a lady running rabid down the street with a crawfish sticking out of her mouth wearing Walmart clothes and chasing a chicken you will know it is me.

Thanks for redefining what is real in life.
