Unhappy why is people talking badly about Louisiana?

I have been doing some research in many forums (including city-data where a guy had to decide between houston and Dallas and one of the bad points was the proximity to louisiana) looking for trips to do from Houston and stuff like that why is that?

Cheers

It probably has to do with the fact that a lot of Houstonians seem to blame the majority of crime (or at least a spike in crime over the last few years) on the influx of Hurricane Katrina evacuees from New Orleans. At least, that would be my guess.

I love Louisiana.
What I don't like is what a nightmare I-10 has become from Slidell to the East Beltway in Houston. You used to be able to make it in 5 hours. Now, it's no where close to that.

But the reality of it is; Texas has jokes about Louisiana, Oklahama and Arkansas. North Carolina thinks South Carolina is inferior, Tennesse is the bastard child because it's on the OTHER side of the mountains. Virginia likes to remain above the fray. Georgia knows it's the best state in the South and pokes fun at Alabama. Florida isn't Florida, it's different country. Nobody wants to claim Kentucky.Mississippi makes every state look great...etc.

The NE and California thinks we are all uneducated, bible thumping hillbillies, so that bands us together in the end.

Don't take any of it seriously, no on else does.

Because we in Louisiana are so different than anywhere else in this world, Most people not from Louisiana will never understand Our Culture & way of life. We are different and Unique and like it that way, If everyplace was the same We would live in a boring Homogenized World.

I agree with some of your statements.. But I have lived in texas for 7 years and I never heard people joking about Louisiana to often, well at lease not around me.. People from Tx are always asking questions about Louisiana , they want to know how much of the mystique of the state is really true.. But to tell you the truth Most people in Lousisana I know, dont seem to really ask alot of questions about Tx. Texas just doesnt seem interesting to us culture wise.. Just alot more opporttunity to make more money and visit its Large cities ... Lousisana is so different then the rest of the South to me. Most southern states share alot of similarities but Louisiana is just different to me. But I love all of the south just not as much as my home state

Are you wondering why people think LA is so backwards (check your grammer and you will understand this) or are you looking for trips from Houston "and stuff like that"
