Default DMV costs

I just moved to New Orleans and I need to get my drivers license and license plates transfered from another state. I can't find the costs and fees for this. I know it varies by what kind of car you have, but I'm just looking for a rough estimate. Thanks for any help that you can provide!

The one time they hit you HARD is when registering ANY car in Louisiana for the first time - you get hit with sales taxes around 4-5% of book value. After that, renewals every 2 years aren't that expensive.

REALLY?

That would be several hundred dollars?? on a $15k car...

I just paid taxes in Georgia...er damn. I think I'll wait to swap tags then because I don't have that kind of money.

At the time, it was close to $600 on a 1994 Acura Integra. I wasn't thrilled about this, but it's not like I had a choice - I was a Louisiana resident again.
