Default "Hank" Signs in SBC

Anyone know what the deal is with the Hank signs I've seen around SBC? They're yellow with black lettering and an arrow pointing the way to the next sign. I've seen others too, not just Hank signs, always the same style. Just one of those things that drives ya crazy til you figure it out.

I think those are signs are for movie filming locations so that the crew can find their way. They usually have the initals of the movie or the first few letters of the title printed on them. For Soul Men, they had "SOUL" on them. When I was in Jeanerette, they had signs all over the place for "ATKM" for All the King's Men. Hmmm...so, are they filming a Hank Williams or Bocephus biopic in Bossier, or what? Or something else entirely?

Ahhh, thank you! That makes sense. They're filming over near where I-20 intersects I-49. It's some Marine vs alien movie, Battle: Los Angeles, with Aaron Eckhart (Dark Knight) and Cyclops from X-Men. I work on the 10th floor in downtown Shreveport and I kept seeing black plumes of smoke last week coming from that direction, then we got notice of the road closures and to expect to hear explosions and machine gun sounds and see lots of smoke. No idea what Hank has to do with anything. Maybe the name of the lead character. Oh well, mystery solved.

There are a number of projects going in this area right now, but nothing regarding Hank Williams Jr. as far as I could see. HANK could also be cryptic for a specific scene being shot at a location rather than the actual production's name.

An bit of info though, for those who weren't aware, Hank Williams Jr. was actually born in Shreveport while his father, the legendary Hank Williams Sr. performed on the Louisiana Hayride. Hank Jr. spent part of his childhood living in Old Bossier, a now mostly rundown neighborhood located next to the Louisiana Boardwalk shopping area. The Old Bossier neighborhood is part of what was once the original Village of Bossier City, long before Bossier City had 60,000 residents.

For those interested in the current productions going on in Shreveport-Bossier, as well as all over Louisiana, you can check out Alexandyr Kent's Louisiana Movies Blog.
