Default Any Lake Charles residents really.........

wanting to see development in Urban LC. I mean, downtown needs to be revitalized. And our mayor has been talking about it since 2002-2003.

I wrote a blog concerning this. If you are a myspace member, you can probably leave a comment, but if not, you can leave a response on this site after reading it.

I mean the plans look great, it's just WHY SO MANY DELAYS??????

Louisiana isnt exactly a rich state.
Lots of Lafayette projects are either very slow to develop or havent started yet either.

LOL, that's hilarious. The smakcs. I heard all of that shopping lafayette has, was inintially planned out for lake charles.

Anyway, I think like that whole area behind hwy 14, you know where academy, and all that is, and home depot. That would be a nice shopping district, end it somewhere at LA397(that way some of the country land back there is still preserved)

Lake Charles resident here.

I think the reason the plans for downtown are so slow is because they don't want to upset any of the old money folks, after all, the more wealthy others get, the more power they lose.

I believe the Power Centre was actually planned by Jim Sudduth long ago, and it's a great idea. They just completed and open Power Centre Drive, and I'm sure in a few years there will be even more economic development along that road.

Lake Charles was actually poised to get the Oil Center, but again rich peeps said NO because that would mean even more nouveu riche for them to compete with. It's all power politics.

Lafayette also has the benefit of not being too close to Houston. I think Houstons massive influence affects LC and takes business from it.
