Default Pay Raise..Please? =)

Good Morning.
I need advise on asking for a pay raise. I work in a HR office and i really work my booty off!!! I am a hourly employee and I do just as much asd most salaried employees do if not more in our office. I feel I should at least make 2 more dollars! I'm not asking for much, but the cost of living is going up each day. I feel I am fighting to exsist everyday. Nothing stinks more than getting paid and litterally be poor the second you recieve it! I don't have many bills at all. I am living in the right income for my pay. I just feeld used and underpaid. I am a hardworker. And if I don't figure out what to say or how to say it soon I will go crazy. I constantly keep a eye out for something better. I have transferred in this company four times, I am starting to feel no more room to grow. Management and Supervisor positions turn-over rate is not high and I am dicouraged. I hate to leave the company, I really like it. Any advise on what I should do?.. Thanks a lot! =)

Default Pay Raise

I work in HR and the metrics route is the way to go! Line out for your boss exactly what you do (lots of times they really don't know)- in #s, and if your dept keeps tracks of what you're doing on a departmental basis, (how many ads others are filling, how many the dept is doing total a week/mos, etc.), include this as well as I think it will help to show your contribution in comparison to the salaried employees. Any special projects you've taken on? Anything you've really done a fabulous job on? Don't mention personal finances, even if you were living off food stamps, it doesn't mean you *deserve* a raise. Is there a pay range for your job? Where are you in it? Is there a job description? Are you meeting your expectations or are you exceeding them? Are you doing a lot more than what others in your same position are doing? Start with this... then maybe go into your commitment to HR & to the company...if you've transferred a few times you might want to say why you're ready to stay where you are. Good luck! There are lots of good articles online on this type of thing, anywhere like Monster to the ERENetwork to SHRM.

if this doesn't go the way you want (or really even if it does...)
ask about your future w/ the company - specifically, what you need to get a promotion or the big raise. What options are available to you in the future - and you shoudl probably have some ideas on where you want to go after this job. Find out what it takes to get there.
