small town
I agree if you want a small town check out Slidell if that is also to large for you.Check out Pearl River La which is 10 minutes from Slidell and 40 min from New Orleans. it is near to Mandeville, SLidell, Covington and has cheaper home prices.

Love lakeview. Can walk to park and lake. A lot of restaurants and shops are back. Most convenient to everything

Saint Amant has a small town feel. We're 5 miles east of Gonzales (home of the Jambalaya Festival and the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center). We're also about half-way btween New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Quick Access to both I-10 and US-61 (Airline Highway)

Great post, great little city. But I disagree slightly about the movie. No winter festival as portrayed in the movie and the park area is much smaller. It is awesome. I've been there several times. Sooner or later I'm going to stop for a few days.
