The unfortunate truth is, they don't care. There's verry little there, so in a sense, those tickets are funding the city.
Out of curiosity, did you have Louisiana or out of state tags ? There was a Dateline segment about a decade about out of staters being more aggressively pursued by cops.

I also got a speeding ticket in Town of Washington at mile post marker 25. I was going 77 on I49 and the cost is $165.00
For sure, they have a speed trap there...

You just have to go 70 mph at the Washington exit on I-49 or expect to get a ticket if you're going any faster than that. I've heard of people getting tickets at the Washington exit for going 72 in the 70. Shameful how lowlife that cop is!

Aha! Dateline! There was some post a while back in the moving section about a program someone saw where LA targed out of state drivers and I was trying to find out where it was reported. Thanks for mentioning it and solving the mystery

You all must (and did) admit - you were speeding. No matter the reasons speeding is speeding. Now with that being said, I travel that area all the time - usually at about 80 - and I did get a ticket a year or so ago....and yes it was expensive but I called the judge and talked to him, he took my money and the ticket wouldn't (didn't) go on my driving record - so no increase in insurance! lol After all, this is Louisiana!

He's always there, rain or shine. I've seen him out in the rain radaring people. He got me going 77 in a 70. My fine is also $165 . I expected it to be about $100 but was shocked at the $165. He also pulled over 2 other cars as he was pulling me over. He's a very busy man indeed....LOL I will definitely slow down the next time I drive through that area.

I have had friends get tickets in Washington when visiting the Antique School Mall in Washington. Just slow down when driving through.

Same thing happened to me. I was headed toward Shreveport and driving my usual speed when I slowed down to about 85 so I could reload my revolver. I tried to explain to the officer that I had indeed, in the interest of safety, slowed down to reload but he mentioned something about a "speed limit" and that I had been exceeding that speed limit. Well, I have Texas tags and when that officer wrote "Tx" on that ticket beside my license plate number I knew I had been singled out because I was an out-of-stater. From now on, at least in Louisiana, I'll wait and reload when I stop for beer.
