Default Washington Louisiana. Is it a speed trap?

I got a 80 mph in a 70 mph. Not denying that at all. Not a work zone at 8:38 am at mile marker 25 on I -49 NORTH.

The fine for 10 mph over the limit is $165.00!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes i was speeding because i was in the dead zone of two semi-trucks and a truck came up on my rear and was tailgating. Where i come from you can break any law in the interest of saftey.

Washington is right next to Layafette La

There are certain parts of I-49 you need to watch. Such as the one you experienced where there is an overpass that curves around (about mile marker 25). Cops also love the area south of Alexandria around Exit 65 where there are clumps of trees in the median and a clearing in the middle just wide enough to hide a cop car.

Yep i was at mile marker 25. Got email from sister. She says everyone knows about this cop. She even described him to me. I wish she had thought to tell me. A fine of $100.00 would be plenty; it's that $65.00 portion of it that gets me!

There is always a sheriff's deputy doing radar in that area. I always go 70 on that stretch because they will use any excuse to pull you over and add to their revenue.

I received a 77 in 70 mph at mm 25 on I-49N. I was behind a car going very slow in rt. lane so I picked up a little speed to safely pass the car. The deputy was on the other side of the overpass. I've been driving for 37 years and had never received a speeding ticket before. Yes - $165 also.
I'll be making many trips to Tulsa but have decided not to spend any money on gas and food in money hungry small town Louisiana, and will take my route and money thru Mississippi instead.

Speed traps cost small towns more tourist dollars than the proceeds of the tickets. Who would want to invest there when it discourage people to go there. Do not get me wrong-Speeding is bad

Default Definately a speed trap

about 70 % of the time there is a deputy sheriff or LA state policeman parked there. I always go the speed limit north of Opelousas, LA in St. Landry Parish.

I was pulled over 2 years ago by a St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Deputy on Louisiana State highway 10 between US 71 and I-49. I had just passed a slow moving truck and had not had a chance to slow down after passing. The deputy was coming in the opposite direction and had his radar on. Just before we passed each other, he turned on his lights and motioned for me to pull over. He turned his car around and came after me. He claimed to have clocked me at 75 mph in a 55 mph zone. It cost me $205.00. On my last visit to Louisiana this past August, I watched my speed everywhere I went. I believe I did see a cop hiding on I-49 south of Alexandria as someone else mentioned.

Default Beware

Just came of of H-190 from B-R onto I-49N and there he was parked on the interstate facing south against the north bound traffic just over a little hill. Got me for 77MPH and $165. But Washington, La, St landry's parish and the whole state is the real loser for their tackyness and loss of my dollars for gas, food and lodging in the future.
