If a haircut takes twice as long when the hair is long then it only makes sense that a hairdresser would need to charge twice as much.
Oh I absolutely understand they need to charge more. I always have paid more for highlites on my long hair than people charge for short hair. And if they want to charge more to blow dry long hair, I understand that as well. My point is simply if you are in a customer service position, which hairdressers are, it really IS about satisfying the customer. They wanna charge more for long hair versus short, I'm okay with that. But don't wack my hair off when I don't want that. If they need to up the price to satisfy the customer, do it.

Just wanted to let you all know I went to Jerry Heston's and was VERY pleased! I was told over the phone that prices for haircuts range from$35 to $70 and I told them I wanted the $35 person. She did an excellent job! I also got color - roots, highlites and lowlites for $82 - I thought it was an excellent price and the colorist did an excellent job. My hair was BADLY damaged - the colorist said she thought the person I had gone to before had left the color on too long. The condition of my hair improved IMMEDIATELY!! I also bought products, which are expensive of course at an Aveda salon, but my hair was so damaged I really had no choice. Also, I procrastinated for so long because I was just uncertain about where to go and my hair was so damaged, but I got into the salon the very next day. No long wait for appointments. Anyway, very pleased with Jerry Heston - thanks to all of you who responded! BTW, if anyone is interested Georgia did my cut and Elizabeth did the color.

I started going to Jerry Heston 4 months ago because I wanted to go to an Aveda salon. I have been back twice for haircuts and Highlights/Lowlights (I go every 8 wks). Love it and it's in my neighborhood. I see Elizabeth for partial Highlights/Lowlights $82 and Port for haircut with blow out $50. I have thick shoulder length hair and consider this a great deal. They do a fabulous job and I am always getting compliments on my cut and color.
