Well some of use never get to sleep ... I have small crops compared to some of the super farms around here that are in the 1000's of acres, I'm mainly a building contractor so it's a mixed blessing, when it rains I can't build and when it's dry I can't farm. But in the afternoon it's to hot to do anything unless your fond of having heat stoke, it's even hard on the young guys. But the nice part is you can keep the house set at about 85 and it feels cold when you walk in it.
According to my weather station thing it's 97 and the humidity is 72% right now. They say it's going to get down into the 70's tonight, I don't believe it, I think one night it got down to 79 in the last 3 weeks or so. I blame Al Gore.

I have only heard them called thunderstorms or storm and nothing else. Davart, I pray that you will get a good storm soon!

Out of all those storms moving through KY last night we got a whopping 1/8" of rain ... it did take the some of the heat off and settle the dust a little so that's good. Just 5 miles from here they got about 3/4" in both places the ground is still dry as it soaked it up like a sponge.

I've always heard them called thunderboomers. These are the storms with lots of thunder, but little else. We also get rain storms, lightening storms, and tornadas (sounds the way I spelled it).

It rained about 1/2" here yesterday, and I actually saw a puddle today! Haven't seen one of them in weeks. It's 79 degrees, low humidity, and slightly breezy. What a beautiful day! Hope everyone around is enjoying the break in the heat.

Oh, yeah, talking to the cashier at the grocery the other day. She tells me that milk may go up to $6 a gallon within the next few weeks! Her district manager said that the late freezes we had early this year killed most of the hay, so many of the dairy cows were slaughtered. They talk like we may have a milk shortage!
Who'd have thunk it??

I have heard that too, but I heard 4 or $5. Between milk and gas we'll all be broke!

Milk is now $4.69 a gallon at the quick stops, $3.99 a gallon at the grocery stores. Gas has went down a little to $2.98 a gallon. Doesn't make sense to me on how a gallon of gas and a gallon of milk adds up to more than what a person working for minimum wage would make in an hour.......

Gas is down to $2.89 here in Grayson. It certainly is a nice change from $3.19 last week!

I'm with Davart.. I'll just blame Al Gore..

Default Rain finally!

Well yippee, skippy! We finally got rain today in Reston (the rain had been dancing all around us). There has been a mild storm with some lightning and peels of thunder for the past four hours along with four hours of a steady soaking rain and a temperature drop to 70 degrees. Yay! Is Kentucky getting rain?

10 days from my last post in this thread and still no rain. Even some of the trees are looking bad, I've mowed 1 time in the last 10 weeks and that was just over the septic tank, don't even have to do that now.
