My family is moving to Louisville in August and I don't recognize any of the banks I have seen online as I have searched. Any good thoughts on the banks in Louisville?

Two very good banks which I can recommend. Commonwealth Bank & Trust and Stock Yards Bank & Trust are both very well managed, local banks which I do business with. They both are big enough to offer full range of products and services, while small enough to miss some of the corporate bureaucracies that stymie the national conglomerates.

Republic Bank does a nice job and really supports the community.

Welcome to Louisville. My family has had better luck with the credit unions around town. We bank with Park Community Federal Credit Union and LOVE them. Our checking is free, you can use lots of different atm's around, and they have about 7 branches in the city. The other banks are starting to charge more for their accounts but mine has assured me that they will be well below everyone for a long time. Good luck!

Thanks little Lucy and the others. I think we are going to go for a credit union. I will check out park community.

L&N FCU is a well recognized local name, too. My wife has had a personal L&N account for quite a while. L&N has many branches, but their NE branch is located next to Lowes at the corner of I-265 and KY 22.

My wife also has an account with a credit union, but unfortunately I don't remember which one. She really likes it.
