We have had plenty of beautiful days this summer. The OP for whatever reasons doesn't want to live here so she is grasping at straws to find justification. Some of the points are valid, most are not. The comments about not being able to go outside, mosquitoes, snow - those I don't get or understand at all and I don't think they are valid complaints. When someone doesn't want to like something, they will criticize everything.

I'm one who thinks that 95+ temperatures for weeks on end, with a hellfire sun and humidity, does not make for beautiful days. The best summer was 2009, the temperature only went into the 90s 8 times of 90 days. In 2010, the temp went into the 90s 84 times.

I actually think it's just the opposite. when anyone who has lived here for many years makes any negative comment it seems that you, who have not lived here that long, become offended. i'm glad that you find life in crestwood agreeable to you and your family. those of us who have lived here for most of our lives, outside of the most affluent zip code in the state, may have an opinion based on a little more experience of the reality of life in ky.

btw, please define beautiful days. this has been one of the hottest, most humid summers on record. but oh, wait a minute. suddenly it goes from 110 heat index to 60's and cloudy. not exactly my idea of beautiful. soon i will move to the desert, and there will be many things and people in louisville i will miss. the weather will not make my list.

Oh let's not also mention the horrific air quality of last week as well to go along with the abysmal allergy problems. I also find it quite interesting that the NWS Louisville does not issue regional air quality alert days on their graphical maps when every other NWS office does. If the utilities shutter their oldest coal plants and convert them to gas the air would improve. Until then, that is a major quality of life issue for many people.

I don't live in Crestwood and before the last few hot days we had about 10 days straight of very nice weather - low humidity and in the 80's - I'm not sure where you all were, but we were out biking, hiking and walking in very comfortable morning and early afternoon weather. I'm not sure why my zip code, the time I've lived here (over 3 years) or your assumption that I am affluent has anything to do with the validity of my opinion. I am not offended in the least that some of you don't like living here - I think you should move and as soon as possible. All this negativity and whining gets really boring and repetitive.

pardon me, prospect. I don't see how discussing the pros and cons of a city is whining or being negative. I thought that this was the purpose of these forums. and yes, living in a certain area does influence your opinion, why wouldn't it? not all of us are surrounded by doctors and lawyers as neighbors. it seems odd to me that you are so quick to condemn anyone who isn't happy here. maybe you are the one grasping at straws, eh?

Nothing to worry about! Close the windows, turn on the AC, crank up the good ole Doors records and puff away on a joint. That usually helps to make most days endurable. Soon you'll be laughing at everything. Kentuckians grow some excellent weed.

I'm sorry but having one good experience in one county over 120 in Kentucky or one area in the Louisville Metro doesn't mean the rest of us don't have valid views. I've lived in both Hardin and Jefferson County. Didn't like the Hardin experience because it was not right for me being a 20-something civilian. Jefferson County (St. Matthews) is closer to what I want.

Would you feel the same way about Louisville and vicinity if you had to move from Prospect to Bashford Manor or Fairdale?

Famous Gonzo journalist, Hunter S. Thompson, grew up in Louisville and disliked the city. I've googled his name several times, found out all sorts of things about him, but never discovered the reason why he didn't like Louisville.
