Hi all ...
Looking for a hotel to spend one night in Louisville for my 29th birthday before hitting the Bourbon Trail. I am interested in a place that is within walking distance from cool bars - but I'm really looking for a more eclectic neighborhood - like with dive bars, pool halls, good food, music, nothing ritzy.
Not interested in the frat or club crowd - at all. More like where the musicians hang out ... hope I'm making sense! If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Much appreciated!

Neighborhoods like Old Louisville, Germantown and Shelby Park are known for having the kind of bars you're looking for. These neighborhoods are not far from downtown and U of L areas, but they are a bit more of a walk than probably what you want from downtown and U of L. Old Louisville has several bed and breakfasts near Central Park; you could walk to places like Rudyard Kipling and Mag Bar. I don't recall any in Germantown or around there. Maybe somebody knows a place. You might end up having to take a bus or taxi rather than walk.
