Default Louisville - Not the city for young black professionals

This city is not the place for young black professionals and the ones that are here are so stuck up and rude. This city has no culture, style, or fashion. Why is this city so slooooooow about everything!! Music, movies, fashion?? I don't get it. Everything here is geared and catered towards one race and that race is not african american...not a diverse city at all. Louisville is an ok city if you have lots of money, homebody, or retired. Not for the ambitous, black, single female with no kids....there is nothing here for you...that goes for males too. We have to venture out to other cities.

Because Louisville was so slooooooow (did I count # of o's correctly), homes in Louisville didn't see the horrible peaks and valleys of the recent housing crisis.

You are wrong about not being geared... 1st of all there are very few African-Americans in Louisville. There are 10's of thousands of Americans in Louisville with an African heritage, just as there are 1000's of Irish (don't you dare accuse an Irishman of being a hyphenated American), 1000's of English, Scots, Korean, Viet Namese, Indian, Arabic, and even the folks often known as indegents.

Get off your racist crap. This town is a place where anyone, native or otherwise can and has made success common place. You don't have to like Louisville. I understand, but to troll a race card is one of the most absurd lies anyone can belch. I am a long time member of the Louisville business community. I know.

Can't say I don't somewhat agree. I'm a black guy who moved from Louisville to Washington DC and vicinity in the summer. I liked the city but as a young fresh black college grad it didn't fell like I was going to get anywhere professionally or socially, so it was only natural I took the first thing smoking to DC where I felt like I had a better chance to hit it big in both arenas.

Tomocox, you don't get the point here, you are not going to get the point here, and I've accepted that.

The thing is the OP feels that there is not reason for an upwardly mobile person of the Black race to pick Louisville to reside over cities like Atlanta, DC, Charlotte, Houston, etc who are have more things that Black people would find that interests or attracts them. Whether that is an issue you want to acknowledge or not that is a problem which may bite Louisville in the later on. That could be thousands of dollars of black buying power leaving the city limits, black-owned profitable small businesses closing up, etc. Attracting and keeping upwardly mobile blacks to Louisville may help to reduce the black on black violence that plagues West Louisville via mentorship, role models, more to do for blacks etc.

MrsAMC, have you at all considered Detroit? That city could certainly use a good, hard working, ambitious woman like you. There are fantastic lofts downtown that would be perfect for a single young woman. Walking distance to all sorts of great venues. Lots of innovative new companies are starting to set up shop in the core and mid-town. Give it a look if you're interested. Great music, history, and people. I love that old girl.

Detroit, she is rising!

Maybe if black people would expand their interest, there might be a little more for them. The op might be a "black profesional" but carries the same black mentality of one who isnt very cultured. Or appears to, anyway. In that case, i would ask, why dont you open aliquor store or something, but id rather ask, what do you think is missing, what business venture are you wanting to try?

If one is cultured, this isnt a big problem. I dont like being around most black people ghetto or otherwise that would even want such blackploitation. If we as a people want to get anywhere, we need to culture ourselves and at least want to fit in. My cousin owns his own business, Americas finest filters. Hes not young but he did it. Im not saying conform to anything, just get with the program. Also, its harder doing things on your own. I could go on and on about my dreams.
