I read so many negative comments about California and find it interesting that two of the safest cities listed on the link are in California. Glad to read about Louisville - a comforting thing for we Californians that are Louisville bound.

I just wish everyone would rise up against this type of media coverage and demand more info on the event and victims/families, and none on the perpetrator of the crime, maybe that way those "copy cats" who think this is a cool way to go out might realize that no notoriety comes of it. I understand the media's desire to cover these events, they just need to handle it more respectfully and morally. Here's hoping!

I've been working remotely in Louisville for the past 2 weeks (while my family is still in Ohio). I've stayed on the outer loop off of the Gene Snyder and Rt.64, and I've stayed right downtown next to 4th Street Live. I felt very safe in both areas. My office is in the Aegon tower downtown, and I haven't left work before 8pm but have always felt safe walking around downtown at that time.

I just hope the Ville doesn't experience the Californication that many of the cities already have: an influx of Californians that drives up the prices, cost of living, development, crime, to the point that many of the locals leave for greener pastures (wherever that may be). I don't have anything against Californians. I'm simply stating a fact in my own personal experience as well as those of my friends in areas where they are currently experiencing this.

Regarding "Californication" or "Chicagoation" or whatnot...may we have as many of them move to Louisville as reasonably possible. May they bring their "strange ways." Many of the locals here already prefer the greener pastures (suburbs) and I find it ridiculous to claim that crime would increase. I have the impression you want to live in a small place, where you can play cornhole and be stuck in the regressive-mindset of too many in this city who seem to be against progress.
