I've done a lot of work in that area remodeling the inside of homes. It's overall not a bad area. I have a buddy who actually lives on Rio Rita as well and has never had any break ins or anything. They'll be some "sketchy" people and homes in that neighborhood but overall I'd say you'd be fine. I almost bought a home last year there.

Anymore sounds like neighborhoods anymore are just a mixture of the good, bad and the downright ugly from the way folks describe

Pretty much the same as the last one. Decent overall area, still some sketchy people here and there. Most of Louisville is decent except the west end. There's bad ones scattered everywhere you go. Nice house though. I'd say you'd be good to go

Ya being in Louisville for 40+yrs I'd listen to croce. Rio rita is much worse area than 2nd home. But, if you head towards town a few miles, it gets a lot better. 2nd home is really close to really nice neighborhood of audubon park. But just like Louisville, tons of good pockets, and sometimes, there's a just ok pocket next door. Not bad bad per say, just blue collar, and maybe some intergenerational housing aka kids who need to get a job, before they get onto heroine. The closer you get to your work, the better neighborhood your going to find. However, your job is so far out, it is truly in a cookie cutter, no feel, no culture, boring, no vibe, flat area of town. Yea, there are a million restaurants, a movie theater, anything you need. But who wants to live next to a shopping mall? The vibe, culture of Louisville WILL not be found within 5 even 10mi from your workplace. Like croce said, St matthews, among others. I would go St MAtts. Awesome area, next to parks, independent eateries, white ppl that know how to behave, big area where you might find something. But ya, with your money you shouldn't have any problem living here, you'll be just fine. Oh and your on the Gene Snyder - I 265, so anything close to that Xway, the better. But, besides anchorage exit, which is Lagrange rd, lots of flat no culture, zero vibe area of Louisville. And, the Watterson, I 264 connects to 265, along w I 71, so stay close to those if you want to hold your commute down, but still live farther away from work. Private message me if you have any question at all. You will find Louisvillians to be more than friendly to help.
