Good Intentions, Very Bad Idea
Might you post some of the century+ buildings that are being razed to build these new and 'improved' structures? I just can't stand to see this kind of modern redevelopment in an old city center. Most of it is hideously modern and borderline tacky.

That is a good point...the development for UofL off Shipp Ave, however, will not raze any historic structures except for whats left over of an old factory. Plus it will utilize an old, dilapidated 5 story factory building as a parking garage. I do agree they could have made the development more urban and less suburban, but the fact is, this is the kind of development that will attract and gain many UofL students who live in similar looking apartment complexes with large pools and landscaping, etc in the east suburbs.

I hope it has monorail or TARC lines connecting it to campus - Shipp Ave is a pretty good hike from most classroom buildings. As for it being too suburban, it's a HUGE site. High density developments would probably house 15,000 students, that's way more housing than U of L needs with only 21,000 students. 43 acres would be a good sized farm in rural KY
I do hope they build a good size park somewhere near campus. I'd actually love to see one btw Floyd Street and the back of Crittenden Dr across from PJ Cardinal Stadium.

Is there such a thing as a historic factory? I''d never heard that before moving to Louisville. There are a lot of 'historic' abandoned factories in residential neighborhoods in L'ville that could be razed and have houses rebuilt on site.
Every building razed for this project was built after 1950, and a lot of it was abandoned and covered with graffiti.

Construction has began on the 10 story BioLab Tower on the U of L Health Sciences Campus.
Construction is nearrly complete on another 8 story research building right next to it at Hancock & Muhammad Ali Blvd
Construction is finished on the U of L Med Plaza... what a beauty! It looks much better than the renderings

Anybody know how the ZirMed Gateway Towers are coming along? I believe they are under construction across from Slugger Field. Not 100% sure.
Any pics of the site?

No, the Zirmed Tower (one not two) is about halfway complete across from the Glassworks Bldg. There is a twin towers project near Slugger Field that isn't going to begin for at least another year

No, the signs at the site say it is a research tower. The parking garage construction site is on the other side of this picture
