The one I don't care to see is "New Hipster Capital". I am young (only 24) but "hipsters" drive me insane. And there have definitely been a rise in Louisville of such characters. But I guess that's a positive sign in a way. Hipsters do have certain qualities that can draw people in (Being "green" is a big one since that's a big hipster trend)
Variety of people is important. At my stage of life I wouldn't buy and rehab a house in Shelby Park or run a restaurant in Portland but I'm glad we have people that do. All cities have nice, safe suburbs. The quality of old urban neighborhoods and downtown is a lot of what separates cities. A strong community needs a foundation of middle class families but also creative types and innovators. You also need low income people to do low wage jobs and good paying blue collar jobs. When I need a tree trimmed or a car worked on I'm thankful for rednecks

I think I need to take a road trip!
A good number of former Wisconsinites are in the Louisville area. I've seen a number of Packers stickers and hats and some WI plates.
