Head on back to LA please and don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split ya! Bless your heart.
It's not often that we agree, Missy, but I'm here with you.

Considering, the poster from L.A. has not composed any series of intelligent, well-thought, well-reasoned posts. Honestly, I do know many "clueless Southerners" in Kentucky, but that certainly does not comprise a majority contingent.

I would tell them to leave Kentucky not b/c they hate it (although that would be a good reason,) but also since we don't need any more, uhmmmm... "clueless" L.A. individuals.

What Kentuckians consider heavy traffc, we consider no traffic...each and every person we have encountered has been delightful, friendly and kind. The weather has been much more temperate that we anticipated and we can hardly wait to get into our new house and get settled. We were happy in California....we would probably be happy any place we were but we are really having a fabulous time in Louisville.

One interesting note - in So. California (near the beach with no air conditioning) we were paying an average of (for a 1700 s.f. house with just 2 people living there) $145 a month for electricity and $135 for gas...plus water and trash....the much larger home we are moving to averages $140 month in the summer for gas and electricity combined (which includes running an air conditioner or furnace during much of the year) and $235 a month during the winter....yipee!

Count us among the "clueless" I guess :-)
Welcome clueless southerner I am clueless too, living here after living in Chicago, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Portland, and San Diego, and traveling to every major city in the US (hey its a sick hobby!)

I am in the process of moving to Louisville and the school situation is making it very difficult to make a decision on a home. So if I may ask where in the Louisville area did you find your home and the school you finally decided was the best one for your family?
Sorry I didn't get back to your question earlier. I didn't get notified of your post (and it's now August--probably too late). Anyway, it took a lot of work but I have what I think are accurate assessments of schools in the two clusters closest to me (East Side). If you, or anyone else, still wants my take then just send me your e-mail addy & I'll respond privately.
