Thank you all so much. Last question, I promise....since we are coming from such a small area, are there any town or areas outside of Louisville that might be good. How are the commutes to town from outside of the city?

Oldham County!!! Crestwood, Buckner, Goshen, Westport, LaGrange. Best schools in Kentucky overall, and all nearly equal. LaGrange is far eastern Oldham County, add five to 10 minutes from home to interstate exit 22 and then to downtown is normally a 20 minute ride at speed limits. See my previous post about checking Welcome to OldhamCounty.com! for very detailed information about the county.

Louisvile is great
Louisville has lots of areas that are in this price range. The median price is for Louisville is around $140,000.
Resale values tend to be higher as you go East. Prices as well tend to be a little higher as you move Eastward.
There may even be some opportunities to buy a new home as you approach $150,000.
You can choose from new subdivisions, more urban areas, more rural areas in the surrounding counities or even condominiums.
I think you'll like the family atmosphere found in Louisville.

That is a very false, stereotyped statement

What part of it? The part that you can't get as much house (or at least you couldn't last time I checked) or that the South end is not "low rent"? My comment was directed at the one who said to avoid that area because it is "low rent".

I was referring to the original poster with that statement. I agree with you Missy. The south end is NOT all low rent and there are homes as large as those in the east end for HALF the price. Really the main drawback to PRP/Valley is the dirth of shopping and restaurants. You have your Target and Walmart but that is about it...

Yeah I am still sad about Bacon's leaving (I didn't really care much about Dillard's). We also lost JCPenney and Fashion Shop. But that's not something a trip across to Jefferson Mall can't fix.

Oh and as far as restaurants, we don't have alot of variety but there are quite a few locally owned home cooking places around here not to mention the Pie Pantry now

My agents love "the Dixie Corridor" including the Iroquois, PRP, & Valley area's. Some of the best home values considering home size, lot size, price, convenience, and resale are located in the "South End". While there are a few knuckleheads, I find the area full of wonderful people.

I hope I'm not a knucklehead Yes, you are right and it seems like houses don't sit vacant here very long unless it is a "handyman's special"
