The E-town metro area is the 14th safest out of 331 metro areas in the US. It has a population of 23,000 in a county of nearly 100,000. Areas north of E-town tend to have more of a military feel to them, being next to Ft Knox.

Here are test scores for Hardin

That would be Elizabethtown?

How accurate was the depiction of E-town in the movie of the same name?

I don't believe my test scores link worked. Here it is again courier-journal.com»Kentucky CATS scores»Louisville, KY

E-town has a good amount of shopping and chain restaurants. There are also some nice hiking trails north of there in Kentucky's Knobs Region in Berheim and Jefferson Memorial Forest

Maree - Are you planning on renting or buying a house? If buying a house - what price range are you considering? If you know then some of the good folks on this forum might be able to give you some specifics.

It is scary to move to a new place, but KY is about as friendly as the US gets.

I once asked for directions in Lexington, and the person actually said, "I'll just drive you there. Follow me." She got in her car, led me to the right road (about 4 miles), then went on.

And this is not abnormal for KY. You'll be in good hands.

And Americans love Australian accents, so all you'll have to do is pour it on thick.

Is E-town the only area you're looking at?
