Default Russell neighborhood "wins" murder capitol of Louisville for 2007

I was working on a list of murders by Louisville neighborhood/ suburb project for 2007 and Russell was the runway winner/loser with 11 murders last year. That is double the next worst number of 5, claimed by several areas.

I'm not brave enough to drive in Russell, but I was looking at some aerial images of it. It looks like 90% of the old homes were bulldozed and replaced with housing projects. Russell may have been more hurt by urban "renewal" than any other American neighborhood.

Pleasure Ridge Park was tied for 2nd ( ) with Buechel, Portland, & Chickasaw, all with 5 murders last year. Interesting... 3 of those are majority white neighborhoods. Several West End neighborhoods had zero murders last year.

This is so surprising...Russel has seen one of the biggest come backs in west louisville and many wealthier african american families have built decent sized 250k plus homes there recently.

Sticks, I think you missed my point - it's the WORST area for crime.

Park DuValle & Algonquin have added a lot of new upper class housing, but I haven't seen anything of the like in Russell. They should bulldoze it and start over.
