In my opinion, for all it does, Oldham County will win the match. Lay out 18 points of criteria. Challenge other parts of our country, our area, etc and score the 18 points objectively on a 1-5 basis. Then add up the golf-type scorecard, and while Oldham County won't win every hole, I am staking my career that we'll win the matches as often as Tiger Woods wins tournaments.

It is not about that, Tom. It is about options. People need to compare for themselves. Anyone looking at Oldham should also look at these type of areas. Likewise, anyone looking at urban living should look at downtown in addition to Highlands, Crescent Hill, etc.

Georgetown has a few developments right off the interstate and a nice little town as you head north on IN 64. It really looks like sleepy bedroom community not all too different than Crestwood, KY, just much closer to downtown.
According to MapQuest, from the corner of KY 146 and KY 329 By-pass in Crestwood to 1st & Main in Louisville is 19 miles. From the intersection of Indiana Hwy 64 and Kepley Lane in Georgetown to 1st & Main in Louisville the distance is 15.8 miles or just about 3 minutes time difference. Problem is you can't get closer from Georgetown to downtown, whereas large portions of Crestwood are closer than the 19 miles.

pmkeating is on a distinguished road
I hope I'm not the negative one here... We'll definitely tell our realtor that we want to see Oldham county (which she's partial to anyway) along with Floyd and possibly a few houses in Shepherdsville/Mt Washington.

Google told me that Floyds Knobs is 23 minutes to work and 20 minutes to the airport. Crestwood is 41 minutes to the work and 30 minutes to the airport. Shephersville times are in the middle and Mt Washington times are more similar to Crestwood.

I personally think you are smart pmkeating. You seem to want an "edge" city type of bedroom suburb so why not look at different ones from across the metro? Granted in some cases the places you are looking are an hour apart from each other, but still. There are literally tens of thousands of people on the KY side who have never even SEEN the indiana suburbs except maybe from the interstate on the way out of town or MAYBE eating at a restaurant on the river in downtown Jeffersonville.
