Taxed to Death is on a distinguished road
Default Housing Information Louisville Area

1st off Happy Holidays to all.

We are parents of 3 boys, ages 14, 11, and yes 2.
I have been looking at the Louisville area as a move for our family,
I was wondering if you kind folks could answer some questions I have
about property taxes, schools, and so on.

We are about an hours ride north of Chicago,
the winters are cold and long, heating avg is about $250 a month.
property taxes are about $6,000.00 a year, $500 x 12.
and $300,000.00 gets you a vinyl clad home that's about 2200 Sq ft.

We are looking for an area that is not to far from where we live now,
my wife has family here, and Louisville would only be 6 hours away by mini van :-)

My concern is what economic state Louisville is in, if I, the Wife, and even the boys would have a tough time finding work,

Does anyone know what the avg property tax would be on a $300K
home, are there other taxes, ie personal, and so on.

We have visited Louisville on 2 occasions, but that's not the same as living long term.

sorry for the long post.
any info would be great, ya there hey.

Good Morning this Glorious Christmas Eve. May you and your family truely be blessed by the Peace that Passes all understanding.

I shall try to answer so many of your questions, but I know there will be many which will remain.

First of all, congratulations for your consideration of the Louisville Metro area. It's a wonderful place to raise a kid and enjoy life. You will find four true seasons of the year. From the snows of Winter, to the green of Spring, the Hot, Hazy, Humid Summer, and football perfect colorful Autumns, you will soon learn the old adage that if you don't like the weather, just wait 15 minutes and it will change.

Louisville is a place where you can find a house of faith that will give you support and opportunity. You can also have your children educated in any number of outstanding public or private venues.

Louisville is also a place where many job opportunites exist. Depending upon your resume', desires, and aptitudes, only your self-doubts will close the doors of success here.

As far as a home, $ 300,000 will buy you a 3-4000 mostly brick home with a walk-out basement, two car garage, and 15-30 minute ride to work. You will pay about $ 1-1.30 per $ 100.00 of your homes market value in taxes.

So, yes, Louisville is a great place to buy/build a home, raise a family, and enjoy God's Country.

Good luck and God Bless!
