I believe the Speedway paid for the widening and also the new exit that was built there. Also, you think the reason it appears to cause little traffic twice a year is maybe because the road was widened?

I'd love to see that happen, but I don't envision that for years to come nor do I see a rail system between Lexington and Louisville anytime in the next 20- 25 years. It's too bad that this part of the country never did invest in mass transit or rail systems like the east coast did. Lexington doesn't even have Amtrak service... We have to go to Cincinnati for that. That's one thing I sorely miss about living in Japan. You could take the train everywhere.
