Default LEO sold to Tennessee Group

According to an article in the Courier-Journal (May 23, 2008) Louisville's alternative weekly has been sold. Most employees have been released.
In my view LEO has slipped considerably ove the the last 3-4 years, and took a plunge when John Yarmuth's column was discontinued due to his becoming a politician. He wrote the best editorials in the region.
Without a doubt LEO has felt the sting of the competitive Courier-Journal's "Velocity", which I consider a challenge to compile a more superficial publication. I think an appropriate sub-head for it would be; "how to measure the velocity of air rushing between your ears".
Six years ago Leo was thicker and contained many interesting columns, such as Molly Ivins. But now I flip thru it in about 60 seconds and read the cartoon which appears at the end. That's it.
LEO has some traces of being liberal, but now? Not much liberalism left in town.
Any comments?

Huh? So you think LEO is conservative? The quality has gone down, yes. But it is still as lberal or more so than the alt weekly of any city I have traveled too. You act like they are in there endorsing John McCain and white flight to suburbs. Stephen George is one of the most liberal, eloquent writers I have had the pleasure to read in a long time. Honestly, he belongs at a much larger alt weekly in a city like DC or San Francisco, but I am happy to have him here. Also, Velocity is NOT a competitor to LEO. They serve too totally different demographics. Do you think Fourth Street Live clubs compete with Monkey Wrench, Cumberland, BBC, Pink door, Third St Dive, Mag bar, etc? No way. Its a totally different crowd in the same way.

Love the LEO. Hope it stays as is (VERY liberal, in my opinion).

Velocity sucks on many levels, and represents everything I dislike about my age group.
