I haven't given up. I'm still sending out resumes, but nothing is turning up. Louisville would be so ideal. A day's drive to Chicago where my family is. RIght now I have a tentative job offer with the govt for San Antonio, Tx, pending the usual paperwork clearance.

A real nice area of the West End is the neighborhood along the Shawnee Golf Course, just west of Portland, past the Sherman Minton Bridge approaches.

Great old 1920s era houses facing the golf course...maybe some 1930s/40s, too.

How much are you wanting to spend? Do you want to live in the suburbs or in a more urban area. The VA Hospital is 30 min or less to most parts of Louisville. Generally any areas east of downtown, and areas south of downtown, south of I-264 are pretty safe. Do not look in the west end (immediately west of downtown). Southern Indiana could be an option also.

Default Relocating to Louisville

I am moving to Louisville in the Summer and am looking for a nice place. 2-3 bedrooms in a safe area. I have checked out a place on Lytle street zip code 40203. Is this a good area. I am also on section 8. Although most people on section 8 have given it a bad rep, I am not one of them. I was just accepted at Bellarmine University and will be attending in the fall. any suggestions? Oh I have a German Shepard Female as well.

Lytle Street is in the Portland neighborhood, which is part of Louisville's West End. It's not a nice area. Some have suggested it may be next to undergo gentrification, but for now it's pretty rough. Just before Christmas there was a large gang-related gun battle between police and a large group of thugs at 18th & Portland, just three or four blocks from Lytle.
