I also found this though I don't know how accurate it is: Ordinance of Secession of Kentucky

Quote:
An affirmative vote on the referendum, conversely, suggests secession sympathies. Delegates from the seven coastal plain (Jackson Purchase) counties all favored the referendum, while those from central (Pennyroyal and Bluegrass) counties opposed the referendum
This is a very interesting fact, since the Bluegrass area, and parts of the Pennyrile, where large slaveholding areas, especially the central Bluegrass, where slave population was a full 1/2 of the population of Fayette County (I wonder if this vote varied within the Bluegrass region).

Again, in my own defense, if you have read my posts, you will note that I continually encourage people to get color out of their minds. African-American, Native American, Asian American, and shall I go on. We have only American's here. Anytime a hyphen is used, it is done so to segregate. Nothing else. Slavery was what it was. Thank God it brought millions of people here to America to build an economy. Was it done wrong? No doubt it was, but there are millions of ancestors of those slaves here who are here with all their ancestors helped create and not in Africa with the huge crisis's that exist there.

This thread has deteriorated beyond a useful, intelligent discourse. It seems that we are not ready to discuss racial issues in the metro area at this point, so I am closing this thread.
