They had a great selection of plastic model kits. For railroad stuff Hobby House on Preston was the best, hands down. Amazing we don't have a single hobby store left in the entire area.

I also remember Grand Junction up on 10th street in Jeffersonville and there was one on Preston near Hobby House. Best spicy fries ever. Blew Rally's away. Dixie Manor with the awesome neon sign (Gateway Plaza and Youngstown Shopping Center had these also). I'm thinking there was a Cow Palace on Preston near McCawley Road. This was the road we used to take to enter Jefferson Mall so we could avoid the long traffic signal at Preston and Outer Loop.

Doesn't seem like this was all 20+ years ago now.

I remember a hobby store in the Bittersweet Shopping Center on Preston. I also remember spending way too much money there on slot cars and parts. They had a huge track there and you could bring your own car or rent one of theirs.

I remember that cut-thru to the J-Mall. Used to be a good place to drag race (not that I ever did anything like that).

Yeah I know Davis's was on Winkler, my grandmother did not live far from there and I am not real far from there now and used to pass there taking 4th to work everyday. But the place I was talking about in the 90's that the girl went to was not there but somewhere farther away either on Algonquin or somewhere downtown and they made them just like Davis's did.

That's too bad. I remember them out near Bowman Field, and had heard that they moved to a new place on Taylorsville Road.

Smile Triple Triangle Systems, Inc. hamburgers

It was called Triple Triangle Systems, Inc. My older brother and I worked for a short time at the Wilson Avenue location during the summer of 1966, I believe. We wore a goofy paper fold-flat cap. The owner was very particular about the cap being clean. We wore that cap day after day. We got two 10-minute breaks and a short lunch break. He gave us an employee discount on our meals. He had us working like we were on the assembly line at General Electric Company at Appliance Park. The idea behind the chain was to order "combos" by colored triangles, such as red, blue, and etc.

My brother and I had worked for El Taco Mexican Restaurants in San Pedro and Gardena, California. Charlie Toogood and his brother, Jerry Toogood, were more lax than TTS. We worked hard at El Taco but it was more informal. We got to eat as much food as we wanted to eat and it was FREE. Usually, after the rush, I would take a break and fix myself a meal. Customers liked seeing us employees eating the restaurant's food -- it reassured them that our food was safe to eat!

They also moved out to Middletown but flopped completely. I was all excited and telling my wife that they had the best sea food but when we went there, it was just awful. I don't know what happened, but the quality was not the same, imo.

..yeah, I recall both WKLO and WAKY. Gary Burbank made in big in the Cincinnati market. There was also (WAKY), somebody called "Baily", and Coyote Calhoun. WAKY had the interesting DJs.

I also recall WLRS, back in the early days. It was a pioneer in the FM rock format, before the format went national.

"somebody called "Baily"? Here's a history lesson.

LOL! You beat me to it! He was the Duke of Louisville! Up to very recently, the radio station would call him on occasion at the nursing home and put him on the air. Still a funny guy.
