I am currently living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and find this city provincial, narrow, and un enlightened. I grew up in New York City and went to university in Washington D.C. My wife has an opportunity to accept an excellent position in Louisville. We are both quite culturally and socially active even though we are in our "fifties." We collect art, wine, and enjoy an outdoor cafe scene. Thus, my question will be quite succinct. Will we enjoy living in Louisville? We know nothing about this city. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The Highlands, Cherokee Triangle, and Crescent Hill may just be perfect for you. I'd advise a trip and check these neighborhoods out.

Then you will love Louisville, especially the areas mentioned by Kingcopper. Louisville has a disproportionate number of good and excellent restaurants. And it's a first class city for the arts, again way out of proportion for it's size.
We have a thriving drama program in Actor's Theater of Louisville. We have an orchestra, opera company and ballet.

Please search my posts and let me know if you have any questions. Louisville is a very art friendly, happening city. The restaurant scene blows Milwaukee out of the water (I can say that having grown up in Chicago).

Don't do it!!! No culture down there compared to Milwaukee....no summer festivals of ALL ethnic groups like you have at the summerfest grounds...pretty much "wonder bread"...if you think Milwaukee is bad compared to NYC, Louisville is worse!!

I doubt you'd find more culture in Louisville than Milwaukee. Winters would be more mild and the economy is a little better in Lou
